Participants can sign up for either the Sabyinyo or Gahinga route—spots are limited, so secure your place early!

Discover Mountain GAHINGA & SABYINYO
Mount Gahinga
Mount Gahinga is a stunning dormant volcano located along the Rwanda-Uganda border, part of the Virunga Mountain range. Rising to about 3,474 meters (11,398 feet), it is known for its beautiful bamboo forests and rich biodiversity, including the endangered mountain gorillas that inhabit the area. The hike up Mount Gahinga offers a moderately challenging trek through lush vegetation, with spectacular views of surrounding volcanoes and crater lakes. It’s a great choice for hikers seeking adventure combined with nature and wildlife experiences.
Mount Sabyinyo
Mount Sabyinyo is the oldest volcano in the Virunga chain, reaching 3,645 meters (11,962 feet) in height. It is famous for its distinctive jagged summit, which resembles teeth—hence the name “Sabyinyo,” meaning “old man’s teeth” in the local language. The mountain straddles the borders of Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, making it a unique tri-point landmark. The trek is more demanding, with steep sections, but rewards hikers with panoramic views of the Virunga volcanoes and surrounding landscapes. It’s also a habitat for rare wildlife, including gorillas and golden monkeys.

What fitness level is required for the hike?
Everyone is welcome! Both Mount Gahinga and Mount Sabyinyo are guided hikes designed to be enjoyable for all participants. Our team moves at a comfortable pace, with plenty of breaks, making it a fun experience for beginners and experienced hikers alike.
Is the hike to Gahinga or Sabyinyo?
Participants can choose to hike either Mount Gahinga or Mount Sabyinyo. Simply book for the route you’d like to experience—but spots are limited, so reserve early.
How do I book a spot for the hike?
Participants can book online through our registration form or contact us directly. Once payment is confirmed, your spot is secured
Is transportation included?
Yes, group transportation to and from the hiking starting point is included for all participants.
What packages and prices are available for the hike?
We offer two packages to fit your preference:
Partner Package (2 people):
• Rwandans: 120,000 RWF
• Foreigners: 220,000 RWF
Solo Package (1 person):
• Rwandans: 150,000 RWF
• Foreigners: 350,000 RWF
Both packages include the full guided hike experience and all the excitement of exploring either Mount Gahinga or Mount Sabyinyo.
Can I join the hike if I have my own transport & accommodation?
Yes, you can still join the hike even if you arrange your own transport and accommodation. In this case, we will only assist you by booking your hiking permit.
The permit fees are:
Rwandans: 10,000 RWF
Foreigners: 150,000 RWF (100 USD)
